The Best Life Awaits

We're Dan & Vung — we didn't stumble into this life. We chose it.

Not because we wanted to escape, drop out, or go off-grid. But because at some point we looked at how we were living and started asking questions:

Do we really need this?

Can we do it ourselves?

Can we do it better?

Is this good for our family and our life?

The answers changed everything.

We grow our own food in our California backyard because we stopped trusting labels. We cook our meals because we want to control what goes in our bodies. We fix our own home because owning a house should mean actually understanding how it works. We move through nature because it's non-negotiable maintenance — for the body, for the mind. We travel to absorb the world's best ideas and bring them home.

None of this is leisurely. None of it is aesthetic. It's a deliberate, practical system for a life with less friction, less dependency, less of what we don't need, and more freedom.

We call it Practical Slow Living.

Slow doesn't mean inactive. It means deliberate. We hike, we build, we cook, we fix things with our hands. We just don't do any of it on autopilot.

And we run it on three words:

Stable.        Confidence in your life. Dependable, reliable, without worries. You're good!

Capable.   Learn to grow, fix, cook, and do things yourself. Don't know how? YouTube!

Free.            Stable & capable lead to freedom. Doing things on your terms, on your time.

This is what we're building.

Dan is a European mutt with his dad's side coming from Eastern European countries of Poland and Germany.  Two countries with a long history often at odds with each other. His mom is of English and Welsh/Scottish descent. Another two groups of people with troubled history.  But in America, the tensions of European nations faded and ultimately came together to create new life in the new land.

From a past of conflicted people, two of them worlds apart, ultimately met per chance in California. Our differences are great and wide but so are our similarities. You find what you look for. And we looking for a joyful life in the everyday things we do.

Oh and let's not forgot the real mutt of the family: Peagle!  He is our life long toddler that keeps all of us entertained and busy whether we like it or not!

The Heart Behind The Camera

Vung & Dan

We are a mixed-race couple who believe that the most meaningful parts of life are found in the simple, everyday moments. Whether we are tending to our garden, testing new recipes in the kitchen, or engaging in real talk about our marriage, our goal is to show that a life well-lived is intentional, grounded, and accessible to everyone. We find beauty in the slow rhythms and the details of daily life. Lifelong learning and exploring help keep us all young and healthy. We'll show you what we do and hopefully it will help you live the best life for you.

We began sharing our journey online to connect with a community that values authenticity and honest storytelling. Through our vlogs and blog posts, we document the challenges we face and the lessons we learn, hoping to provide a space where you feel inspired to embrace your own unique path. For us, 'The Best Life Awaits' isn't a destination—it's the way we choose to walk through the world together every single day.

Vung comes from Manipur in the Northeast of India. Her mother is Meitei and her dad is from the Kuki-Zo Paite tribe. These two ethnic groups have recently clashed in ethnic violence throughout the country, splitting the people along ethnic and religious lines. Vung's parents married at a time when these two distinct groups simply did not interact, let alone integrate. This in itself is a story of a mixed race married in a far less forgiving time and place.
